Step 1: Draw a wide, curved line for the top part of the Manga Man’s eye. Make the tips on the sides pointy. The shape should be similar to a rainbow with a flat top.
Step 2: At the bottom, draw shorter curved line for the lower portion of the Manga Man’s eye. The right side of this line should be thick and the left tip should be pointy. Notice that the lines don’t connect on the left side. The overall shape of the eye should be similar to a little football. The shape has to be somewhat flat because it’s for an adult man. The eye for a young boy would be bigger and rounder.
Step 3: Inside the eye of the Manga Man, draw a big circle for the iris. Place the circle directly in the middle of the eye. The top of the circle will be hidden behind the top part of the eye so don’t draw that section.
Step 4: In the middle of the Manga Man’s iris, draw a small circle and shade it in for the pupil. Directly on the edges of the iris, draw two tiny circles for highlights. Draw directly over the edge of the iris. The line inside the highlight circles will be erased at a later step.
Step 5: Directly above the eye, draw a short line for a small wrinkle. This eye is for a grown man, so his eye should have some creases. On the top, left side of the eye, draw a small triangular shape for a bit of the eyelashes. Higher up above the eye, draw a long line for the main eyelid crease. This line should bend down on either side, and it should be as long as the eye. A bit higher above the eyelid, on the left side, draw a shorter angled line for another wrinkle.
Step 6: Higher above the eye, draw a very long, curved, horizontal line for the bottom edge of the Man’s eyebrow. The line should be similar to a giant check mark. The right side should be high and then the left side should gradually slope down. The left tip should also curve up a bit.
Step 7: Draw another long, curved, horizontal line at the top for the top edge of the Man’s eyebrow. The higher up you draw this line, the thicker the shape of the eyebrow will be. Add a few short, spike-like shapes on the left tip to make the eyebrow a bit bushy.
Step 8: Shade the inside of the Man’s eyebrow. If you’d like, you can also leave the inside blank so that when you ink in the next step, your drawing won’t get smudgy. You can also skip this step and leave the inside blank and later color the inside whatever color you want.
Step 9: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your drawing permanent. When you ink the iris, DON’T trace over the lines that are inside the small highlight circles. The insides of the highlight circles should be blank. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your drawing! This drawing was colored digitally using a gradient that goes from dark brown to light brown. The same can be achieved with color pencils, markers or crayons! Start coloring the eye dark brown at the top and then slowly and lightly transition to light brown at the bottom. You can also use dark blue at the top and light blue at the bottom for a blue eye. Using two colors gives the iris a more rounded feel. For a simpler drawing, you can also just use a single color for the iris. You can use any color you want like purple or red. If you skipped step 8 and left the inside of the eyebrow blank, you can now color it using brown or any other color you’d like.
