Step 1: Draw a curved line for the top part of the eye. The shape should be similar to a wide arc. The top, right side of the arc should be a bit pointy. Thicken up the lines except for the ends. Those should be a bit pointy.
Step 2: At the bottom, draw a smaller curved line for the bottom of the eye. This line should be thinner. Both lines combined should almost form a closed shape that’s roughly similar to a circle. This will be the main shape of the eye. The shape has to be pretty big because it’s for a young girl. The eye for an older woman would be smaller and flatter.
Step 3: Inside the eye, draw a big U-shape line for the iris. The iris is technically supposed to be an oval but the top part is behind the outer shape of the eye, so don’t draw that part. The iris should almost touch the bottom edge of the eye shape.
Step 4: In the middle of the iris, draw a big oval for the pupil. Shade the inside of the oval for a dark pupil. Don’t shade too dark for a sketchy feel and so that it’s easy to erase when you ink it later. Notice the amount of space between the big pupil and the edge of the iris.
Step 5: On the lower, left side of the iris, draw a small circle for some highlight or glare. Draw directly over the edge of the iris. The line will be erased at a later step. Don’t make the circle too small. It should be about half the size of the pupil.
Step 6: On the top, right side of the eye, draw four small, spike-like shapes for the first part of the eyelashes. The eyelashes should be similar to tiny triangles sloping to the right. The farther to the right the eyelashes are, the more they should slope down.
Step 7: On the top, left side of the eye, draw four more spike-like shapes for the rest of the top eyelashes. These spikes should slope to the lower, right side. Notice how thick they are at the base. The lash at the bottom is very small compared to the top ones.
Step 8: On the lower, right side of the eye shape, draw three more tiny spike-like shapes for the lower lashes. These shapes should curve to the right. Inside the iris on the top, right side, draw a smaller circle for more glare/highlight.
Step 9: Above the eye, not too far up, draw a long, curved horizontal line for the eyelid crease. It’s okay if the line overlaps the eyelashes on the right. The left tip should curve down and then you should add a smaller line curving down at the left tip.
Step 10: Higher above the eye, draw a long thick line for the eyebrow. The left side of the eyebrow should be thick and it should slope up to the right, right side. The shape of the eyebrow should bend a bit near the middle. The right tip should be thin and pointy.
Step 11: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your drawing permanent. When you ink the iris, DON’T trace over the line that’s inside the small glare circle. The insides of the glare circles should be blank. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your drawing! This drawing was colored digitally using a gradient that goes from dark blue to light blue. The same can be achieved with color pencils, markers or crayons! Start coloring the eye dark blue at the top and then slowly and lightly transition to light blue at the bottom. You can also use dark brown at the top and light brown at the bottom for a brown eye. Using two colors gives the iris a more rounded feel. For a simpler drawing, just use a single color for the iris.
